I, too,
have experienced the same tremendous loss you felt after losing
your pet. My family recently lost our dog of thirteen years. She
was an important part of our family.
I
saw the opportunity to help other people by designing and creating
beautiful boxes for their pet's ashes.
I have been working with wood since my college
days when I enjoyed a summer building a classical guitar. In my
last house I designed and installed a threshold in the floor between
the living room and dining room, using Brazian rosewood and red
oak in a herringbone pattern.
I crafted bandsaw boxes for jewelry for about a year after studying
with Larry Anderson at Woodcraft.
Presently, I am building custom-order boxes for jewelry, executive
gifts, and pet rememberance boxes. Samples of my original designs
are viewable on the Home
page. Last summer, I trained
several students in the art of boxmaking.
Here is how a Pet Remembrance Box is made.

Remembrance Box. (Click the image to enlarge.)
